Bookings
- There are many ways to book your chosen activity, either in person, over the phone or via email. The majority of our services can be booked online: bssleisure.com.
- 16 year olds + are permitted to participate in adult public swimming sessions.
- Bookings for BSS Swim Scheme and BSS Holiday Camps are confirmed upon receipt of full payment.
- Childcare vouchers are accepted for BSS Holiday Camps only.
- Customers with an outstanding balance on their account will not be permitted to book and/or attend activities until the outstanding payment has been cleared.
- It is the responsibility of customers to ensure that their contact information held by BSS Leisure is up to date.
Cancellations
- Casual hire bookings must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the commencement of the booking. Customers, whom fail to cancel a booking within the defined period, will be charged in full.
- Cancellations must be provided in writing (letter or email).
- Should you decide to leave our aquatic programme before your lesson allocation ends, you may seek a card refund for the remaining lessons or request that the credits are applied to another swim account on our booking system.
- Refunds are not provided BSS Holiday Camps bookings, where the camp is fully booked and less than 48 hours notice has been given.
- Education & Training course cancellations must give at least two weeks’ notice in writing (letter or email) in order to obtain a full refund.
- It is at the discretion of BSS Leisure’s senior management as to whether paid fees for pre-booked activities, may be transferred to other BSS Leisure services and will be dependent on availability.
- In the unlikely event that BSS Leisure have to cancel swimming lessons, we will attempt to contact you, giving as much notice as possible and a credit for the cancelled session will be applied to your account. No compensation will be offered for same day cancellations outside of our control.
General Regulations & Service Information
- Terms & conditions associated with facility hire are set out within respective hire agreements.
- All children under the age of 8 years old must be accompanied in our centres by an adult, parent or guardian (16yrs+) at all times.
- Customers participating in activities are responsible for ensuring they are fit to do so. Customers who are pregnant or suffer from an existing medical condition are advised to consult your GP before taking part in any physical activity.
- Smoking is not permitted in the grounds or buildings of Bolton School.
- An onsite speed limit of 5mph must be adhered to at all times for everyone’s safety.
- Consumption of food and/or drinks is not permitted poolside, within the changing rooms or the sports hall.
- Bolton School buildings and grounds are a dog free zone due to health and hygiene reasons. Only guide dogs are permitted on site.
- Any deliberate damage to the grounds, equipment or buildings will be subject to prosecution and the booking contact will be liable for costs incurred.
- We operate a zero tolerance policy on violence or aggression towards our staff and customers. Anyone found demonstrating such behaviour in person, will be asked to leave the premises. If an individual demonstrates violent or aggressive behaviour over the telephone or via email, they will not be entertained and all will risk being permanently prohibited from accessing our services.
- There will be no issue of refunds if customers are required to evacuate due to a fire drill, false alarm or an actual emergency.
- A parent or responsible adult (over the age of 16 years) must accompany children in the swimming pool, who are under the age of 8 at a ratio of 2 children to 1 adult.
- Children under the age of 8 years may use the changing rooms of the opposite gender. Children over the age of 8 will be required to use their own gender specific changing rooms.
- Any person with a recent history of diarrhoea or vomiting (i.e. within the last 14 days) should not be permitted to swim.
- Customers are requested to check water depth signs before using the pool and not to swim out of their depth. Non – swimmers must confine themselves to the specified areas of the main pool. BSS Leisure deems someone who is not able to swim 25 meters unaided and tread water for 30 seconds, as a non-swimmer.
- Diving is permitted in the deep end of the pool only as it not safe in depths shallower than 1.5 meters.
- BSS Leisure Management reserve the right to refuse entry to the pool for anyone deemed to be wearing inappropriate swimwear that may pose a risk to their safety.
- Babies must not be submerged in the pool.
- To reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls; we ask that you walk on the matted flooring and towel dry in the shower area, after your session, to avoid the build-up of excess water in the changing rooms.
- Instructions given by BSS Leisure’s lifeguards must be adhered to at all times.
- Diving masks, snorkels, flippers and glass- lensed spectacles must not be worn in the pool during public swim sessions.
- The use of cameras and video equipment is prohibited, unless prior permission from Management is sought.
- Please note that all timetables are subject to change and may change at short notice.
- No one must enter the swimming pool or pool area until a lifeguard is present poolside.
- No outer footwear is permitted poolside. Please ensure you either remove your socks and shoes or wear appropriate indoor footwear. Prams are not to be taken onto poolside.
- BSS Leisure cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal possessions.
- We understand the importance of continuity in relation to swim lessons and will always strive to ensure the consistency of a regular swim teacher to the best of our ability.
- The pool water is tested regularly to ensure the chlorine and pH level are within national parameters for safe swimming. The water temperature is maintained between 28 to 31 degrees to ensure the maximum water quality and bather comfort. In addition, the pool water is constantly filtered and disinfected; with filters themselves being cleaned at least once per week. The pool is also topped up with fresh water on an ongoing basis but you can still help to improve the water quality by:
- Showering before you swim.
- Ensuring babies wear a double nappy system (a disposable swim nappy with a reusable tight fitter neoprene nappy).
- Ensuring children use the toilet before they swim.
- Refraining from swimming, if you have suffered from diarrhoea within the last two weeks of your visit.
