• There are many ways to book your chosen activity, either in person, over the phone or via email. The majority of our services can also be booked online:
  • 16 year olds + are permitted to participate in adult public swimming sessions under the supervision of a responsible adult.
  • Bolton splash swimming lessons have a separate re-enrolment/booking process with takes place from week 7 of each course, for the following term. Full details can be found on the swimming page of our website and within the Terms and Conditions for Bolton Splash.
  • All bookings are only confirmed on receipt of full payment.
  • Childcare vouchers are accepted for our holiday camps. The provider of your childcare vouchers will confirm once the transfer of monies has been completed, at this stage, we will be able to confirm a booking for you. Childcare vouchers cannot be refunded. Although, the value may be transferable to another holiday camp, at the discretion of the Management team.


  • Exercise classes may be cancelled without charge, up to 09:00hrs on the day of the class/activity. All other bookings must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the commencement of the booking.
  • All customers failing to cancel a booking within the defined period, or failing to attend a pre-booked activity, will be charged in full and a refund will not be possible.
  • Customers with an outstanding balance on their account will NOT be permitted to book and/or attend activities until the outstanding payment has been cleared.
  • Cancellations for Bolton Splash swimming lessons or for children’s activities (including Holiday Camps) will not be refunded unless a medical exemption is provided.
  • Cancellations are accepted in person, over the phone or via email.
  • The fees for pre booked activities may be transferable to other BSS Leisure activities subject to availability.


  • All children under the age of 8 years old must be accompanied in our centres by an adult, parent or guardian (16yrs+) at all times.
  • Customers participating in activities are responsible for ensuring they are fit to do so. Customers who are pregnant or suffer from an existing medical condition are advised to consult your GP before taking part in any physical activity.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the grounds or building of Bolton School.
  • Bolton School buildings and grounds are a dog free zone due to health and hygiene reasons. Only guide dogs are permitted on site.
  • Any deliberate damage to the grounds, equipment or buildings will be subject to prosecution and the booking contact will be liable for costs incurred.
  • We operate a zero tolerance policy on violence or aggression towards our staff and customers. Anyone found demonstrating such behaviour will be asked to leave the premises.
  • There will be no issue of refunds if customers are required to evacuate due to a fire drill, false alarm or an actual emergency.
  • All customers are required to report to the building reception area to sign in and out of the facility.
  • BSS Leisure may take photographs or film during activities and holiday camps, the content of which may be published on social media and used for marketing purposes.
  • A parent or responsible adult (over the age of 16 years) must accompany children in the swimming pool, who are under the age of 8 at a ratio of 2 children to 1 adult.
  • Children under the age of 8 years may use the changing rooms of the opposite gender. Children over the age of 8 will be required to use their own gender specific changing rooms.
  • All members and non-members must register at the reception desk by swiping their membership card or registering as a casual member with the reception team. Members and non-members are also required to swipe out upon leaving the facility.
  • Children must not be left alone on poolside. A responsible adult should remain with the children at all times.
  • Customers are requested to check water depth signs before using the pool and not to swim out of their depth. Non – swimmers must confine themselves to the specified areas of the main pool. BSS Leisure deems someone who is not able to swim 25 meters unaided and tread water for 30 seconds, as a non-swimmer.
  • Diving is permitted in the deep end of the pool only as it not safe in depths shallower than 1.5 meters.
  • BSS Leisure Management reserve the right to refuse entry to the pool for anyone deemed to be wearing inappropriate swimwear that may cause offence to other swimmers.
  • Below the knee swimming suits are not permitted to be worn unless they are tight fitting and present no safety risks.
  • Babies must not be submerged in the pool.
  • To reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls; we ask that you walk on the matted flooring and towel dry in the shower area, after your session, to avoid the build-up of excess water in the changing rooms.
  • Instructions given by BSS Leisure’s lifeguards must be adhered to at all times.
  • Diving masks, snorkels, flippers and glass- lensed spectacles must not be worn in the pool.
  • The use of cameras and video equipment is prohibited, unless prior permission from the Leisure Services Manager / Assistant Leisure Services Manager is sought.
  • Please note that all timetables are subject to change and may change at short notice.
  • Management reserve the right to refuse admission to any person.
  • Violence or aggressive behaviour towards any member of staff will be not tolerated.

  • The pool water is tested regularly to ensure the chlorine and pH level are within national parameters for safe swimming. The water temperature is maintained between 28 to 31 degrees to ensure the maximum water quality and bather comfort. In addition the pool water is constantly filtered and disinfected; with filters themselves being cleaned at least once per week. The pool is also topped up with fresh water on an ongoing basis but you can still help to improve the water quality by:
    – Showering before you swim.
    – Ensuring babies wear a double nappy system (a disposable swim nappy with a reusable tight fitter neoprene nappy.
    – Ensuring children use the toilet before they swim.
    – Refraining from swimming, if you have suffered from diarrhoea within the last two weeks of your visit.
